How long will my recovery time be?
It depends greatly on the procedure, but on average most patients are back to work within 3 to 7 days. Occasionally additional time away from work may be required. What can I do to help recovery?
For any surgery, particularly vaginal surgery, it is important to give your body the opportunity to completely recover. Refraining from sexual intercourse for the recommended amount of time for your procedure is most important. Can I have a Vaginoplasty even if I have never had children?
You do not have to have had children to be a candidate for a vaginoplasty. Vaginoplasty is sometimes performed on women without children depending on their personal circumstances. If you are planning to having a family at a later date, we recommend that you wait until you have had your children prior to having the procedure.
What tests are required before my surgery?
All patients receive a gynecological exam at the time of their initial consultation. Prior to surgery all patients require basic blood and urine tests as well as a pregnancy test.
Are there any risk involve with vaginal surgery?
As with any operation there are certain risks. The most common risks include bleeding, infection and harm to other structures. These events are very infrequent, but they sometimes can occur. All risks will be discussed with you during your consultation for your procedure. All of the care-givers involved in your procedure will have patient-safety as their dominant concern.
What should I expect following my vaginal surgery?
Prior to your surgery you will be given pre-and post-operative instructions on how to prepare for your procedure and what to expect during recovery.
What are the results of labial reduction?
Because the size of the labia is reduced, the appearance of the genital area will be improved and the labia will more in proportion to neighboring tissues. Tight fitting clothes that once were a problem should no longer be awkward to wear. Most women also report an increase in sensation and confidence during sexual intercourse.
